my throughabred had colic two ago was seen by vet and recovered all ok and no problems since, vets dont want to investigate gastric ulcers as not persistent enough and dodnt want to investigate unncessessarily. last night he only passed two droopings was fed at 6.30am and was down at yard at 5.30am. very bright and eaten all up and no signs of any colic, any suggestions??

Keep a eye on him.
Was the dropping he passed any different to normal ones?
Did you take his temperature and does his gut sounds sound normal enough?

If your really worried it wouldnt do any harm to phone your vet for advice!

I am confused, think you are saying he was fed at 6.30pm and he'd only passed two dropping by 5.30am this morning. If the horse hasn't eaten a lot of feed/fibre then he won't pass much anyway. If you are worried speak to your vet.

Sorry but your thoroughbred had colic two what's ago? Big difference if it was 2 days or 2 weeks or 2 years.

I agree with box of frogs - could you clarify when your horse colicked? Sounds like he may need something to help keep his gut moving - knowing when he colicked will help - hope he's ok?

thanks foryour opinions, he had colic 2 weeks agao, he is fine he had passed a reasonable amount of droppings yesterday and he is on electrolytes and protexin pre and pro biotics, tpr all normal plenty of gut sounds and very bright inself and worked well last night, hopefully just a one off colic!!!
