After driving around today and calling every feed supplier in the area to try and source a bag of Baileys No 3 Stud Cubes to no avail I just wondered how bad it would be to change to a different brand. D&H to be precise.

She is a lactating mare, with a week old foal at foot. Obviously I would try and introduce change gradually but I'm quickly running out and no where seems to be able to get any in until end if next week.

I have looked online and I might just bite the billet and spend a fortune on delivery to get the baileys but as pennies are tight I'd rather not.

TIA X

Presumably the mare has ad lib forage so access to something to eat at all times? So if you introduce the new feed as you normally would that would be fine, there isn't any issue.

D&H mare and youngstock should be fine, I changed my mare from nothing to plenty when she suddenly foaled, the loaner [horrid and dishonest person], had stopped feeding her according to my previous instructions as she was quote "putting on weight" ...... big belly, no fat anywhere.............

No problems at all, just introduce small meals such as 1/2 kg for a couple of days, then 3/4kg then 1kg etc over a period of a week :)
