My dog just ate an ankle high pop sock about 10 minutes ago! Does she need to go to the vets or should I just wait and see if she passes it?

Thanks in advance :)

Unless she's a puppy or teeny weeny, keep a close eye on her and I expect it will resurface fairly shortly one way or another.

However if she seems distressed, panting, drinking excessively, tender in the belly or goes off her food, get her to the vets.

However Henry has eaten all manner of things, up to and including a t-shirt, and the only things that have given him trouble have been the 1.5kg helping of assorted rubbish and some corn on the cob:D

Phone your own vet by all means I would 1st and foremost see what they would advise, this kind of call coming through at my work would go a bit like this:D
"breed?" and then keep a good eye on passing faeces for the object being ejected;) keep a close eye on the dog if its starts to vomit food or water shortly after eaten/drank/gets very dull and lethargic over the next few days and goes off food then in asap.

She's a small wire fox terrier. I spoke to the vets but they were the emergency vets not the normal one and my past experience with them has been that they get you to the surgery because there is a £150 fee just to see them and then dismissed the dog in less than two minutes saying she was absolutely fine and in no danger. They have told me to bring her in so that the vet can decide whether to make her throw up or not... but I'm not sure she actually needs this and wouldn't be better just to have an eye kept on her at home...Although it worries me because it is such a stretchy material...

Spoke to the vets again and they said because of the stretchy material they were worried about it in the intestine etc and so we took her in so they could make her vomit and she is now happy and sock free!

Thanks again for all your advice it was very appreciated.
