MIL has gone into care. SIL still lives in property that we are exhanging and completing on this Thursday (28th). Dog is an un nutured male Parson Jack Russell approx 5 years old. Never seen the vet (long story involving MIL's beliefs of all medical professions) not socialised and would not trust with children.

Suspect that there is only one solution as rescue centres are full (and have far easily rehomed dogs) but husband wants to try the rehoming route. My belief is that it is better to have PTS.

Dog is in Wareham, Dorset. Due to very difficult circumstances involving SIL dog could only be collected on Wednesday or Thursday.

Easy for me to say please don't judge but believe me this is only a small part of a horrendous year involving husband's side of the familly.

SIL who is currently in the property has severe mental health issues her self and is going into B&B until we can find her somewhere to rent so cannot take dog. Rest of us cannot take him either.

Please pm me if you are likely to help with a phone number and I will call you and explain further.

Hi sorry to here about your mil having to go into a home.

It might be worth posting on dogpages, their a rescue forum that might be able to help find your chap a home.

Have you tried contacting breed rescue to see if they could take him as well.

Is he aggressive towards other dogs? Would you be in a position to get him neutered and vaccinated as this might help re-home him.

Good luck, hope you don't have to go down the pts route :-)

Why put it to sleep? All I see that's wrong with it is needing vaccinations? It's only 5!!! I rehomed a dog that was found stray not knowing any history I would write an honest advert on Facebook pages contact kennels/ rescues/ vets and say you don't expect them to take the dog but please advertise. He must have some good points and we had a queue forming for the dog we rehomed!!!

I hope this does not sound blunt but please read my original post carefully.
This is a small part of a long horrendous situation involving MIL and SIL. I'm not going to put the full details on the internet as I am usually a very private person and this is completely unchartered territory.

Yes, will thinkg about putting something on FB but I really have to be careful about where this dog would go to and having read horror stories about dogs being used as bait for dog fights etc I would rather use this forum.

No fair point I should have read it more closely! Kennels won't take a dog that's hard work if they can avoid I agree... But a lot of them use websites and Facebook to share the details of dogs and this is how we got our stray rehomed. They put adverts on their pages with details to contact us so we vetted who was taking them and this dog landed on his paws! RSPCA would have PTs due to him looking like a fighter and there were dogs who wpuld get homes easier!!! could the dog not live in your garage or something to give it time to find a home? Whilst you advertise in vets/ shops/ groomers etc. I know rescues in east anglia that may help but a bit far away from you! I'm not attacking you but he's only a baby do u not know anyone who could foster him for a couple of weeks?

Does the dog chew the house to pieces? Is he clean in the house? Is he a one man dog or good with any adults? Is it trained for basic commands? Does it have medical conditions? Does it jump on furniture? Can it be left for short periods? Can he go off the lead? Is he loyal or an escape artist?.. I'd include those details to any advert because it will help interest people.

Try posting on a Jack Russell forums such as
http://www.jack-russell-terrier.co.uk/forum/index.php
(I just got that from a quick google search, there are others).

I found a dog for a friend on a similar forum when her dog died unexpectedly - and there was lots of positive support so really worth posting your story on there.

Good luck, it is a lovely thing you are trying to do, at least give the dog the best chance.

Thank you for your such kind words. I have just spoken to a lovely member on here who is going to speak to someone tomorrow.

Out of this very difficult situation I would be so pleased if there was one happy outcome
