Sorry, vaguely misleading title, but we could do with help for tomorrow.
We have a very heavy cob that we drive who unfortunately suffers from sweetitch. We keep this under control pretty well but have major problems when we need to travel him in the horsebox. The box is stalled herringbone and the instant he gets in, he starts rubbing his bum on the wall. Last time he bent the wall, managed to loosen the partitons and undid one. He also, in 2 x 10 minute journeys, made his tail so sore we had to have the vet as it got badly infected. As we are travelling the box lurches forward rhythmically as his bum moves backwards and forwards.
Unpleasant all round.
Any idea as to how we could overcome this problem? We thought of a tail guard but it would only encourage him to rub, although it might reduce the damage. Is there anything we could apply to 'deaden' the area? Or any suggestions very welcome.
Thankyou in advance.
