Hello
Im looking after a friends puppy untill wednesday, he is a 9 week old chi, he is kept in a crate over night and walked and out and about during the day (but on his own as he is too small to play with my other dogs (even tho i have a chi pup he is more boulshy!) Anyway yesterday morning I noticed his left eye has gone really blue, cloudy. I dodnt know whats happened as it cant be a scratch or anything (checked crate etc etc) I really dont have a clue and im quite worried as he has one blue eye and one black eye now?

Pup is fine in himself, eating playing, etc as usual

any ideas?!

TBH. that's something you should have found out before she left the puppy with you!

If you can't discover, from her friends etc. who she uses, then take the pup to any vet. Don't just let matters slide.

Vet first thing in the morning. It might be nothing but it might be something that needs prompt attention. It is absolutely not worth the risk when it's an eye problem. If you don't know and can't find out which vet she uses then go to your own vet.

^^^^ this

Can you not ring her and find out? I'd get it to the vet in the morning, your vet if you have to. As you're looking after it it's your responsibility to take it to the vets if it needs to go so don't hesitate just go :) Fingers crossed for the little dog

I hope you have been to the vet this can be anything from a little bit of dirt in the eye to a more serious case of glaucoma (which could mean the dog losing its eye). Let us know how you got on. x

I couldnt get an appointment today, the pups owner is back tomorrow and he is booked in with their vet when they r back in the afternoon, seems better today

I would also look for another vet. My old GSD had a slightly cloudy eye one Sunday morning, I phoned my vet who said to bring her in straight away. To cut a long story short within 24 hours she was having surgery to remove the eye! I hope it is nothing as serious with the pup but do think the vet should have seen her today.
I would always recommend anyone looking after someone elses animals to make sure they have full authority to take the animal to the owners vet if they have any concerns.

Was nothing to do with the vets who I am perfectlly happy with!

Update on Pup back ith owner an had small abcess which wll clear upith drop for 5 dys!

Sorry, I read it as your vet wouldn't give an appointment. The point I was trying to make was that although it could be something simple as in your case, it could also be potentially very serious, which I think is the view most vets take. I am glad the pup is going to be okay, an abcess in the eye sounds painful poor little soul.
