I have just challenged 2 women I found in our yard and field..one was taking pictures of YO's horse on her mobile, the other taking something from the yard.
Is there a way of checking their registration number of their car?

Report it to the police as suspicious behaviour and/or theft.

They will be able to check the registration and will also have something on record should anything happen in the future.

The only way you can check for yourself is via DVLA which will take ages, ring the Police and they will check it out for you although due to data protection, it is unlikely they will give you name & address but will let you know if it means anything to them or not (bad people!!)

If it turns out that YO knows and it was not what it appeared, just ring Police back and tell them, they would rather be called as soon as possible then hours later when items that were taken may have been disposed of.

You can check the details of the car, ie what car it is engine size, colour and whether tax is due or not online but no details of registered keeper/address etc, this would come from dvla or police and you need a blimmin' good reason for them to give this information to you.

Someone on a car forum I a member of has just been the victim of fraud and wanted to know who the log book of a car that had been stolen had been re-registred too, and the dvla won't release the information to him!

Thanks everyone, have told everyone at yard, just waiting to see if anything has been taken of theirs.
jhoward it was a small silver car, im not sure of make or model I was just trying to note down the reg as they drove off...and left horses field gate open!

DVLA will not give out this sort of information, tell the Police who will check it out themselves.
