hi all!!

There is just one day left to object to HS2 the proposed new high speed rail link between london and the west midlands. It cuts through a lot of good quality farmland and many hunt's will have there country affected. many people will loose their homes and businesses and those left will be affected by the line. It also ruins the lovely landscape of the area. Plenty of bridleways are affected as well as point-to-point courses - it runs straight the middle of at least one! as well as local riding schools which well be left alongside the line will barely be able to operate!!!
So please please please go onto this link:

Click have your say and object to the 7 questions it gives you, it doesnt take long!

Thank you in advance!

yeah but it will mean my lil bro can jump on a train and come up instead of me spending over 60 quid in petrol having to drive for 4 hours to go get him.

Would also cut down the time and cost it takes to get to sussex, which means we could go see our friends and family more...

.... hmmm..... decisions......

obviously dont object if you agree with it

i have mainly posted it because there will be plenty of people in the area who do object and may not be aware that they is only a day left to do so.

i personally don't think it needs building at all as with all the problems economically at the moment the money could be put to much better use...

anyway i dont have to time discuss it i just thought some people may be interested in the link, off to work bye all!

But there are plenty of people who would really benefit, jobs up here are sparse, back home there are hundreds to every one up here, a quick commute would mean more opportunities for families to be able to sustain themselves.

I remember when they put in the MK bypass and the amount of people campaigning for it to be aborted, even people ten villages over were moaning. i dont know one single person who doesnt use it now and think it isnt well worth it.

I've had my say and objected. Nothing but destruction :(

Well, I'm a lot further north than birmingham and the time savings don't seem worth it to me. I can get to London in under 2 hours, so (not even central) Birmingham to London in just under 1 hour doesn't seem that fantastic. Ditto the Manc-London in just under 2 hours. The destruction outweighs the paltry advantages IMO.

PinkPony- Surely the train ticket will be near on £60?

Sorry to disappoint you Pink Pony, but no one, not even its supporters or the government is claiming it will be a cheap form of transport. It wont be.

It will certainly be a lot cheaper to drive. The cheapest way to travel up and down the country is by bus. I've done Leeds to London regularly, which isn't a bad journey and is cheaper and a lot easier than it is to drive.

I don't understand the need for HS2. Why not just upgrade the existing tracks, stations and trains?

I live in the Midlands and it already only takes 2hours max (sometimes less) to get to London. If I buy in advance I can get a Virgin train from Birmingham New Street to Paddington for anywhere between £9 and £30. It's even cheaper if you're willing to get the long train (that takes about 3 hours).

Just spend the money on upgrading the existing tracks. Just MHO though.

no, but it mean I wont have to pay it :D

Or take a day out to go get him :D

Mind you by then we will probably have moved, so its false economy anyway.. *slaps head for being a dumbass.

I have objected all the wild life peoples business bridle paths etc so much will be hurt by this rail link we have eaten up enough green belt it sickens me

I have objected.....now to just wait...

Sadly the proposed route goes straight through my fields!! I see no benefits to people other than those in London or Birmingham.

Objected earlier in the year - think it is an apalling waste of money and destruction of the countryside for absolutely nothing. Let me know if I need to log any further objections.
