*URGENT* Ill after vaccs?

My liitle mare had her vaccs yesterday morning, i went up this evening to find her showing all the signs of flu, and with a mahousive lump on her neck!

She wont let me touch anywhere down the side her vaccs where on and if i try to touch the lump she rears.

My mum convinced me to see how she is in the morn, but regreting leaving her now as i cant get up there until the morning and theres no-one there to check her.

Have left her in the stable and shes eaten some dinner, but not herself at all.

Please tell me it nothing to worry about!! :( :(

like some kids get feverish after vaccs so do some horses, the lump will proberly go down in a couple of days, my little boy go a big sore lump after his vac ( the 1 that leaves a scar on ur arm) but i soon went. if ur worried then ring the vet for advice.

Yeah, i panicked a bit, ive owned 3 horses and worked with horses for years and never come across a bad reaction to a jab before! Yep, when i was a kid after a jab i thought there was a massive crane fly trying to eat me, Still havent lived it down :D
 
One of mine shows fever symptoms for a week after his jab every year so I wouldn't worry too much but if she seems to be really sufffering then call vet to be safe.
 
one of mine takes a bad reaction, we now give him thuja tablests in the run up to the vaccs and for a day or so after, helps with the flu symptoms but not the lump on the neck - that is a small lump compared to what he gets, last year i couldnt ride for 5 days his whole neck was up
i got the vet out one year when he was really bad - he gave him rescue remedy and within 10mins he was back eating as if nothing had happened, i always have some to hand now
 
Mine had a bad reaction this year, she had a ranging temperature and was off her food for 2 days.
We have routine vet visits at our yard and they happened to be up on the 2nd day, so I had a word with them. They said it wasn't common but as long as she was drinking, she'd be fine.
 
A horse at my yard ended up with a rugby ball sized lump on his neck, he couldn't bend down to drink/graze! had to have water buckets screwed onto door! Just keep an eye on here for now, I would personally call vets if it gets worse, it is possible to complain to the drug maker.
 
She's reacting to the vaccination, a proportion of horses will do so it's an expected side-effect of the vaccine. Call your vet, he will advise you what to do depending on the severity of the reaction and it is helpful for vets to have statistics on adverse reactions (not much you can complain to the drug maker for, vaccination are expected to have a number of adverse reactions!).
 
My pony reacted last year to his vaccs, he wasn't poorly as such, he was just a bit under the weather, so gave him the day off with some warm mash and extra hay to eat and he was fine the next day :)
