My husband has just phoned and there is a horse loose on the motorway now and everyone is driving past it and it is desperately frightened!!!

He is trying to catch it but does not have a halter...

I just cannot believe people keep driving past

Police are one their way, but until then my husband is staying with it because it keeps running into barbed wire to get away from the traffic and into a field!

Thanks... will phone him now!

He was just so angry that people were just driving past and around it, frightening her even more

And I apologise, it is a dual carriageway near carrington, not the motorway.

yes you need the lorry drivers on yourside they will stop the traffic there great.
good luck to your husband how v brave of him.

does he where a tie and a belt? one instant headcoller and lead rien!

obviously if he manages to catch it

He's got a belt from his bag but it is so damned frightened (not being helped by other driver driving around it) that he will not let him near. He got right up close and then another driver came shooting past squeezing between the horse and my husband's car which had its hazards on and it shot off again!!!

which motorway? where?

It's a dual carriageway... he was really het up when I phoned, so I assumed motorway because of what he was saying but phoned back to say it's a dual carriageway near Carrington.

Just had another phone call... owner turned up and they have managed to get it back into one of her fields (all barbed wire fencing and the poor thing has been cut to ribbons trying to get back in, so husband all upset

).

What my husband is so very angry about is how other people just kept driving past the poor thing, not just slowly but fast and squeezing through a small gap between other cars and the very frightened mare!!!

I just cannot believe people

You should be very proud of your hubby and also tick him off for risking his life like that!!! I am so glad this ended well, it could have been sooo different, please give your hubby a very big WELL DONE hug from me.

Thanks everyone... I am so proud of him. He is not the most confident person around horses, but he is so much better than he used to be since he has been around mine.

He deserves a big big hug from me!

_Jet Set_ Call North West Tonight, they sometimes run stories like that and it will hopefully make all of those idiots ashamed of themselves!!

Well done to him, I am fuming that other people just kept driving past not just because of the horse but because he is also wandering around so they obviously do not care about other peoples lives either!

I hope your OH is ok and that the horse calms down enough to catch and be seen by a vet.

he deserves a medal, i agree, this should be on the news to inform motorists of how dangerous it is to be so impatient and put further lives at risk, not just the horse's but other drivers.
hope the owner gets some decent fencing now, poor horse. Gold star to your OH.

You should. What your husband did probably saved the life of a horse and stopped a horrid accident that could have killed drivers as well.

The people who didn't slow down are idiots. The ones who did slow down but didn't stop were probably unsure what they could do but you would have thought at least one would stop and see if your husband needed help.

Disgusting behaviour from other drivers. Make your husband read this forum response so he knows his gold star is well earned. Hope the gg makes a a good recovery. Thank god he saved that horse.

Glad your husband helped it.
A word of warning though - the police asked a friend of mine to help them catch a loose horse in the village. She duly obliged; they drove off and left her with it.

Can't believe that the other drivers behaved like this

They would have been the first ones shouting if the poor horse had bolted in front of their cars - if they survived to tell the tale of course

Well done to Mr Jetset

Someone we know had a trailer with cattle overturn on the motorway. The cattle got out and were running round the motorway, but the cars didn't slow down. I think one got hit, but the others were OK. The police had to shut the motorway officially before any cars stopped.

OMG I've just been right by there going to the Trafford Centre. I went a slightly different way though so didn't go down the spur road. Some of the fencing is shocking around there. A bit further along the road towards Partington there's loads of horses in a field by the main road with what looks like just one strip of electric tape keeping them in.

Well done to your OH for keeping the mare safe.

Good God your OH must have been in a terrible state. What an awful situation and desperately frustrating.

I suspect he deserves a very large whiskey when he gets home.

When will people realise that horses don't dent, they die

I just can't believe how selfish people have become -.so many seem to think that what they're doing or where they're going is so important that they just carry on regardless no matter what is in their way.
I was talking to someone who used to be a paramedic and she had someone reach over a person they were giving CPR to get to the sweets in Woolworths!

Thanks God for people like your husband - well done him!
