Hello everyone,

I'd just like some advice please.

There's a fun ride tomorrow that I wanted to do and had set it as a goal to attend, due to lack of confidence/napping etc.

Said horse has a loose shoe (only a tiny bit loose at the minute) and the farrier is busy all weekend. He's a cob and was barefoot when I had him, fronts only put on due to roads etc.

Would you risk doing the fun ride or miss it completely? It's around our area and around 10 miles off road.

I've been looking at Trelawne Equine's Easyboot but don't have a stockist near enough - has anyone heard of a similar product?

Really depends how loose is loose?

You really should try to get someone to put it back on again or at least tighten up the cleats some - have you tried calling the organiser to see if a farrier will be in attendance at the event.

There won't be one there unfortunately.

My farrier tightened them last Friday because it sounded loose but it was just the way he had worn it down. The farrier was happy for us to wait until they were due this Friday.

It's only just started to get loose (last night) and the route will be quite muddy so wouldn't have thought it would come off.

I'm just abit worried that if it came off in the field/riding, that he or another horse would stand on it before I am able to search for it :(

Personally, I would go for it and avoid deep ground but I was told off last winter for riding out in the snow...... called me mad and reckless..... anyway, just be careful and keep a close eye on it but don't let it spoil your day!

Mind, you, from the weather forecast you might be looking for a good excuse to opt out!!

No FL, just a local SAFE one.

I've had the Y/O check him and he reckons he will be fine and I've arranged for the farrier on Monday afternoon just incase.

Yeh, the forecast doesn't look to good but as I've said, I've worked my socks off for weeks getting him ready for this. I've bought one of those long drench coats too, so no excuses! ;)

Thanks for the help everyone :)
