Hello everyone,

I am in a bit of a pickle. Long story short, after hving spent 3 years in France, I am moving back to the UK, Cmabridge to be exact. My horse will be coming with me. Now the problem is that this move was not anticipated to happen so quickly (starting work in Cambridge the 19 September-this is non negotiable for a few reasons). This leaves me very little time to find a livery yard and organise my move.

The question I have for you is: would it be possible to reserve a place on a livery yard without visiting the yard in question before? I know it is not ideal but hey ho. Failing that would someone know of a yard or even a field that would agree to have my horse for 1-2 weeks max untill I make other arrangements?

I would really appreciate any help and advice you had for me. I am stressing a lot about all of this and ideally would not want to leave my mare in France for too long.

Thank you all!!!

It is possible but probably have to chat for a fair while on the phone first.
If you get really stuck I could put horse up for a bit until you find somewhere closer (I'm berks and have empty field and stable at home, or have a space at my livery yard).
Finding a field probably harder than livery near Cambridge though! You may have to just find somewhere (maybe full) for a couple of weeks whilst you move and look for long term yard.

It's doable, I did it when I moved from Surrey to Cornwall although was a nervous wreck about it because pony went before I did so was trusting the yard owner with him even though I'd never met her or seen the yard! Worked out well though :) Good luck with the move.

It is nerve wecking Mince Pie! I can't wait till it's all done and sorted!

Hi OP,

I'm on the edge of the Cambridgeshire border so a bit far away and my yard is one horse over full so no help there. However I'm sure you'll get somewhere - might not be the most conveniently placed but I'm sure you should be able to get somewhere. There's a couple places round here but not sure if they have spaces and they are way out.

Good luck, hope you are able to secure somewhere soon. Just out of curiosity- how are you bringing her over here?

Hope it's all sorted soon. :-)

I am in North Hertfordshire (Walkern) and have an empty 5 acre field with a field shelter and water supply and horses in the adjacent field.
