I do support charities closer to home and have 2 rescued horses myself, both rescued from unsuitable homes in the UK.
Sadly cruelty and neglect happens both here at home and abroard.
these are horses for sale in a lot of cases - not real rescue stuff
if you want to help REAL endangered horses then support the ILPH and not some hairbrained outfit
at least in France - like it or not - a lot of horses will be eaten rather than left neglected - and fat horses make more money for food than a thin horse left in a field
france has different attitudes to animals to the UK - you might not like their attitudes but that is what they are like
these horses are basically a lot better off than those in Romania and other countries where ILPH and Brooke are very active
One of the worst counties for horse abuse in the UK is actually Surrey !!

Absolutely!
As I mentioned on the other thread a great way to sell the unwanted stock to British buyers, really no different to what a certain horse importer used to do but in this case they get the buyer to pay the transport and paper fees and because they are 'rescues' there is no problem with pesky buyers going to trading standards. Quite clever really.
A bit confused by some of these. Are you suggesting that rather than allow these horses and mules to be fattened and then slaughtered for meat, we should buy them for meat money + spend a small fortune on live shipping to bring them here, then they MAY be totally unsuitable for riding or any kind of work and then simply go straight back to Potters to be slaughtered for meat?
We don't need more companion animals, there are more than enough neglect cases here already.
Even if it is whats being suggested, why cant you all stop for a minute and think, perhaps you do not agree with the buying of them, you are, as is everyone entitled to their opinion and to voice it.
But just think, if saving a few of these horses helps to raise the awareness of the horrendous suffering that all live animals suffer whilst going to slaughter, then surely this cant be a bad thing?
I believe these folks are supporting the ILPH and Animal Angels etc, and apart from buying these horses they will be actively supporting the "Hook not Hoof" campaign.
Perhaps they dont just mean for people to buy these horses, perhaps they are pointing you to this website in the hope that it stirs up enough emotion that other people will be motivated into doing more than turning a blind eye.
Maybe to support the campaign, that would also be a way to help.
