Hi all, I need some urgent advice re Prestige Saddles.

I am looking at 2 Prestige Paris Jump/ Event saddles for sale

Saddle 1 = 17 seat 32 Width (Narrow/Medium)

Saddle 2 = 18 Seat 34 Width (Medium/Wide)

I already have a 17/32 which fits my narrow/high wither ex polo pony perfectly but I would say is a snug fit for my barrel shaped not so high wither Argie ex polo pony. Do I go for the wider 18/34 and risk it being too wide for my argie pony or go for what I already have the 17/32 ? Also is the 18 seat much bigger than the 17 as the 17 comes up more like a 17.5 !

I love both saddles and cannot make up my mind and I need to let the sellers know tomorrow, can anyone tell me what ponies/horses they have in a 34 width so I can determine if it will be too wide ... HELP !

Prestige trees can be adjusted slightly, not sure how much and how easily done this is. If you are sure the 17 is the right seat size maybe that one with an adjustment would be ok?

Prestige trees are adjustable by up to 2 widths, so the 17/32 can be turned into a 34 (roughly a medium-wide).

If you can find a saddler who would fit the saddle, you can show them a template of the horse and have them tell you if the 32 would be wide enough when adjusted. I did this with Martin Wilkinson when I had mine adjusted.

I haven't tried a Paris 18 but have tried a Prestige Optimax dressage saddle in 18 and it was very comfy - I would usually like a 17.5.

If cost is an issue at all, consider that it will probably cost you £60 to get one altered, while the 18/34 is ready to go.

I've just bought a Prestige Paris, but the one thing I'd say is that I found the 18 very big - I'm nearly 5'10 and the mare is 17.1 but we ended up with a 17/34 which fits us both perfectly! As others have said, you can get the width changed by a couple of fittings either way too.

Thanks everyone, from your comments I think I will opt for the 17/32 and if needed have it altered to a 33/34 which I can do at a cost of £120 with a Prestige approved saddler in Somerset. I love my 17/32 which seems to fit all my ex polo ponies as they are mostly TB types or crosses of so I will go with that, thank you so much for your advice :) xxx
