URGENT... can anyone pick a baby cob up from field, he's been abandoned in a farmer's field at Leics/Notts border, and bring it to a yard in leics tomorrow? ( Thurs) Home has been offered, but can't get there until Saturday.

The slaughter man is coming Fri morning to the farmer's and will be taking him if he is still there :-(

(This is on behalf of Sam with Foxy).

Please help! Thank you.

if you cant get transport in time, go to the farmer and offer him £20 and bottle wine to keep for a week in the field - that will give you a bit more time - lipstick and eyelash fluttering a must.

Good luck, would have helped but in Somerset.

Alternatively - if you have a 4x4 (or even a car with tow hitch in this case) hire the smallest trailer you can find and pick him up.

Can't help from Edinburgh I'm afraid, but could you post this on pretty much all the forums New Lounge, Stable Yard, Breeding, Vetinary etc just to raise the profile?
Good luck.
Could you hire a transit van with a tow bar and a small trailer (we used to do this years ago when we didn't have a suitable car to tow)?

Just a thought, could you approach said farmer to deliver him for you for a fee ! he may be a. glad to get rid of pony and b. glad of some much needed cash (you may have to offer a reasonable amount to cover time and fuel !)

Hiya

My first post as saw this on preloved too and didn't know how to get in touch then saw it on here. I'm in Loughborough and have a 3.5T horsebox we could pick him up with. Only slight issue is it's my 30th bday today (lunch and dinner plans) but I could probably aim to leave between 4-5pm. I'll know more when I speak to my Mum in a bit. Let me know if you still need it and I'll send you my mobile no.

Cheers.

Karen

I also have a 3.5 t and happy to pick him up but wont be back from uni until fri night so prob could only do it sat morning.
Im south notts area and going to Leicester with the box on sat to drop my mare and foal off for weaning therefore happy to do it on the way back!
If you dont find anyone sooner pm me I hope its a happy ending!!

Thank you everyone who has offered help in some way.

After a hectic morning, you will all be peased to hear that someone via the charity 'The horses Voice' has managed to arrange to pick the horse up and are on their way to him as I write.

Thanks so much, we were very worried, but he is now in safe hands.

Regards

Fantastic news, well done for taking the time to do something about him rather than just looking the other way !

Also, thanks for updating us all - hope the journey goes well and he settles in quickly x
