Shared - happened this morning ........10 minutes ago near Sowerby Bridge via Mobile

Further to my last status, please look out for a plain white van/lorry, couldn't see the front or sadly the reg but it was about 5.5t, not coach built, the back inside was set up for horses etc but it had no windows so looked like a delivery van. Back was open so I could see inside from my house but they shut up and drove off when they saw me coming. Must still be fairly nearby. For the purposes of people sharing this who cannot see the last status, they have tried to take our horses from our field in Norland, near Sowerby Bridge, West Yorks at 8.30 this morning (16/12) - horses ended up on the road. This is scary--lorry looks like a delivery vehicle but set inside to carry horses!

also in stolen and regional

Scary stuff - are your horses well known performance horses etc? The only ones I have known stolen for money lately were some SJers, eventually found in Anglesey en route to Ireland. Most general riding horses wouldn't have enough value to be worth the risk I wouldn't have thought, although no doubt someone will know why they are being targeted in this way..
Hope your horses are okay and thanks for the warning.

Thanks for posting this. I haven't been on here in over a year but thought I should come and post a warning!

Vehicle has been spotted and is not registered to an owner. However, it is still local and we therefore aren't 100% sure it's involved. Police still want to speak to the owner as he was parked outside the stables and may have seen something.

The horses were seen being led away in the opposite direction from the vehicle by men, wearing headcollars and leadropes (not their own). They were turned loose for some reason.

They were taken through a field gate in broad daylight, at rush hour. Please be vigilant.

West Yorks police log no. 326, 16/12

No, they're not competition horses and are worth next to nothing (other than to me!)

I'm worried that ponies / horses are taken for food and value doesn't matter. Certain people also killed swans for food in Peterborough and a local charity lost all its stock of fish in its lake to poachers.
Horses / ponies to ride can be virtually worthless to steal hence the food angle.

I hadn't realised they were yours and that it was your original post! I will pass the log number on too
