US may have come to it's senses! Possible new slaughterhouse to open

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
As an animal lover and vegetarian, like you, I was aghast at horses being slaughtered.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yay a sensible vegie! You are one of an elite band of vegies that I've met (/talk to online) who live in the real world. Well done! lol

[/ QUOTE ]

Another one here! I've been a vegetarian for 8 years. I cannot quite comprehend the view that horse slaughter is bad? Should we rehabilitate all the poor moo-cows and piggys destined for sluaghter into family pets?

That's great news Jade, lets hope it opens the gateway for more to open up and end horses being transported south of the border for slaugher

Mel's mum - Good on You! For defending your daughter, I would have done same for mine, regardless of whether she was right or wrong, cos thats what mums do

I am not trying to go into any other aspect of your, Luv_Lulu's, or MBs mothers way of parenting, than regarding the defending of your daughter regardless of whether she's right or wrong, in that aspect I am glad that my mother is my mother. My mother does not defend me when/if she finds out I'm doing something wrong. She taught me that she loves me regardless if I do right or wrong and that if I do wrong she will support me and try to help me learn, figure out what I did wrong. And that is the way I prefer it.

My mother believes that parents can be to overprotective and that there comes a point where you have to learn by your own mistakes. I'm quite sure that had I written MBs replies and after I'd done that, my mother had read this post from the beginning and first seen that I'd begun my first reply on this thread with [ QUOTE ]
You lot are pure SICK! How dare you ...

[/ QUOTE ], then read the rest of my reply and my other replies, my mother would have told me something like that I had been rude.
My mother doesn't expect me to change my opinion, but she expects that I, as often/much as possible, accepts that my opinion doesn't have to be the one and only correct one.

By the way[ QUOTE ]
She has a straight opinion and you cannot change it.

[/ QUOTE ] Can somebody explain if there's a difference between that quoted sentence and narrow-mindedness, that I would describe as Having opinions that can not be changed by other peoples ideas?

Jade, that is great news, may it be the first of many.

As far as MB's outburst and her mums subsequent post, if either of my daughters posted as MB did and then chose to watch a video with ample warning of it's graphic nature, I certainly wouldn't be molly coddling them or patting their heads with a there, there, nasty people and video.

To start with I would be monitoring what they are doing on the internet and if THEY chose to attack, then they need to learn the consequences. If they then chose to watch a video on the internet that I should be monitoring that had AMPLE warning of it's content, again, they need to accept the results.

So, I'm sorry MB and MB's mum, but if you choose to post on a predominantly adult forum in a thread where you are likely to find the content upsetting, then you have to accept the consequences.

I DO NOT, want arguments and rude and cruel comments made to me.

Thank you

Well we can't always have what we want can we? (Although I have a sneaking suspicion that your daughter probably gets what she wants far too often, as opposed to getting what she needs.........

) People are going to argue with your somewhat ill thought out point of view because it's so mind boggling stupid that it beggars belief. However no one has been particularly rude to you yet, probably because they're still reeling that anyone could display such an obvious lack of reasoning skill, & to be passing that not very desirable trait on to their daughter so proudly.
