Anyways, a friend of mine over there is into dressage etc.... and she is close by to Stephen Peters? Axel Steiner, Guenter Siedel?.. (not being "up" on names...) do these guys ring a bell with anyone? Apparently one of them is an FEI "O" Judge.. sounds scary!!! Anways she is trying to find out if I can have a lesson with one of them......

but I believe over in USA it is very difficult to get lessons as such because they do not "rent" horses as such and most have their own...over a certain level anyway?? Thinks I might just go for a sedentary trial ride instead or maybe try a little barrel racing!!!

Ps... do you know that wormers out there are sooooooo cheap!! Around £6 for the ones we pay £17 for here!! Hope I dont get stopped at the airport coming back home!! Tehe!!!

Has anyone else been to California who can share some good "places to go"... we propose going to Venice beach, Santa Barbara, LA...

Thankyou!!! Not been on hols for about 3 years... looking forward to it.. not the flying though!!!

Mister will just be hacked out so have a rest too!! I hate leaving him though because he can be a thug in a kind way but others dont seem to see it that way.......

try to get to San Francisco if you can, it's absolutely brilliant, has a really unique feel. it's Fleet Week there at the moment so the whole place is really buzzing apparently, full of sailors. *hums Officer and A Gentleman themetune*
eat some SanFran sourdough bread, it's to die for.
L.A. isn't as nice as i'd expected, tbh. Hollywood is pretty grotty, apart from the areas where the famous people live. Santa Monica is much nicer. Monterey is lovely, the aquarium is SO worth a visit.
other recommendation - try to get to a Bubba Gump restaurant, they're Forrest Gump themed and really great food, really good fun.
have a fantastic time.

San Francisco is excellent, I really enjoyed Vegas too and we had a small plane ride over the grand canyon, we landed and had an 'indian lunch' on the edge of the canyon was very coool! Then their is the roller coatser on the top of the Stratosphere in Vegas and the reverse bungee!! Don;t eat before you go up there, thats all I can say.....
I agree Hollywood is a dump but you do have to go to Man's Chinese Theatre and do the walk of fame just as it has to be done the once and the cursory trip round the stars houses!!
I also enjoyed Universal Studios, we went in the Backdraft set then on the Jurassic Park ride back in the Backdraft set and back on Jurassic Park ride (its essential to go on jurassic park after Backdraft its the only way to cool down!
The Bubba Gump restaurant in San Fan is excellent and if going to San Fran you have to go to Alcatraz, its really eerie and creepy but totally entralling! I managed to pack, San Franciso to Santa Monica, to Las Vegas, to San Diego to LA all in one holiday!!!

San Fran is out I am afraid.......poo... sounds fun though, we only have 10 days and hubby wont drive up there as we have to do drag racing for 4 days..... boo hoo.......!! Nevermind, I am sure I will find some fun stuff though!!! Thanks everyone!!

Oh well..........you can always do what I did the first time I went and that was lay on the beach and watch the hunky lifeguards......they really do wear red shorts!! If i knew where the pic was i'd post it for you!

) but stay away fromLA, dreadful place ...Make sure to visit San Francisco .
Have fun !

Hiya, hope you have a good time in California.

Axel Steiner is an FEI O judge and Guenter and Steffen are both international Grand Prix riders. If you get the chance for a lesson with any of them it should be worthwhile and I think you could have some interesting discussions with Axel Steiner about judge training!!

Are you going to get a chance to meet up with any of the UDBBers whilst you're over there? I always thought Monica sounded quite a knowledgeable type of person and I think she is bang in the middle of the area you're going to!

Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

PS Thanks for the encouragement to use Mixmeister for the music. I am hooked and find it reasonably easy to use!!
