Hi everyone,

I'm currently studying Equitation Science at university and for an assignment i am investing welfare issues when using equine fitness equipment. This includes the use of Horse Walkers, Sea walkers, Treadmills, Hydrotherapy Treadmills, Swimming pools and vibrating plates.

If anyone has any experiences when using these good or bad, it would fantastic to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

I have used a water treadmill for my ex racer - she has stayed there 3 times over the last 18 months and had "top-up" visits in between. She has kissing spines and the treadmill really helps to mobilise her lumbar region and build up topline (it also really frees up her shoulders). My equine physio works closely with the people who run the treadmill so everything is controlled and managed carefully. Happy to share further if you need more details.
