Use of the whip

Sorry, was doing it from my phone. Hang on...

Have added it but not sure it is readable? Let me know?

Thanks for posting. Hear hear - was a joy to watch the battle to the line. I didn't wince once (I'm not sure whether there was whipping behind as my eyes were fixed on the two front runners)

It looks like you are right Ester. Go on, email him!
I had only watched Enable and Frankie.
At least neither flirted with a ban!

lol, I have only seen that clip and the reason I actually looked again after was because it was notable that Frankie didn't and because I'd been watching enable I realised I hadn't paid attention to Crystal ocean so watched it to check before I made a daft comment elsewhere, nowhere near as public as a newspaper though!

I've dropped the paper a line on their inaccuracies address ;). It seems odd to base the whole premise of your open letter on something that didn't happen.

This has to be the most unconvincing argument ever!- when is the end exactly then :p literally they didn't use the stick as they crossed the line!?

Charlie Brooks believes it depends on how you read the extract:

He says the key words are ‘At the end…..’

Because neither jockeys used their sticks at the end of the battle.
Frankie Dettori used his stick once before the end and James Doyle
sparingly too….. but not at the end…..

*At the end* of that gruelling battle, Frankie Dettori needed to extract
every ounce of effort from the great mare Enable to see off the valiant
Crystal Ocean. And yet neither Frankie Dettori nor James Doyle resorted to
whipping their horses with their sticks behind the saddle.
