look on ebay! they are all usually rice and richardsons and prob need a paint touch up but deffo get it serviced i its that cheap just to make sure floor and brakes are sound, the old floors are all wood and rot.
Friend said a number of trailers weren't selling on eBay when she was looking, so it might be worth tracking some of them and seeing what you could get.
Just be careful though.... If the trailer needs a new floor, or brake system, or tyres (they degrade with time and sun, so the tread might look good, but the walls may well be disintergrating ), also lights and electrics. A service at our local place costs £70.
Take someone knowledgeable with you! I'm learning more each time I go to see these things, but am in no way an expert as there are just too many variables (though you would have thought it would be just floor, brakes, electrics lol).
We bought a Rice trailer earlier this year for £550 but we had advertised for a project so fully expected there to be problems. The first thing was the floor which as we suspected was about three layers of ply put over rotten boards. Everything was stripped out for a new floor with rubber matting. The frame of the floor had to be welded in one or two places but nothing major. We painted it and put new tyres all around and it has become a fab trailer again. We were fortunate to have friends that had the skills (carpentry /welding) to help with the floor so that saved some expense.
Good luck looking but if you find something and need to spend money on it I have bought trailer spares from Horse Trailer Shop (horsetrailershop.co.uk) and have saved pounds rather than buying from our local horse trailer dealer.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice and let the world know that I have not succeeded in finding one yet Im sure something will come up... I have a new Disco and tow bar to put to good use
I bought a cheap Rice double trailer with ront/rear unload last year- (off e-bay) Safe and useable ? Yes- but we have ripped out the floor, replaced the front top door - given it a good going over and its fab. Now at least I know the floor is good etc.
I was thinking of upgrading to a shiny Ifor......but having read the other thread re mould I don't think I will bother, especially as I don't use it much.
Absolutely possible. I bought my front and rear unload rice for £350 last year. I could probably have used it safely straight away but spent a month stripping everything back and putting a new floor and ramp in and it is perfect now. With the money I spent on repairs it wouldn't have come to over £500.You just need to keep an eye out, be patient and as soon as you see something get in there quickly. I would also advise taking someone knowledgeable to check there aren't any major structural problems (even better if that knowledgeable person is happy to help you with repairs to keep the cost down!)
