I use one of those plastic scourers that you get for kitchen cleaning of pots and pans. They look like shredded metal ribons in a ball...but they clean them up like new.

The tablets you use to clan dentures are suppose to bring them up lovely if you fill them with water and drop a few in (haven't tried myself yet though).

Milton sterilising tablets like you would use for doing babies bottles should work. I've not used them on a tub trug but have on my plastic drinking bottle and brings them up beautifully

I get a washing up brush (from my kitchen) and scrub mine out and intermittently use Hibiscrub. Once used, the brush remains as a tubtrug brush.

An empty carrot bag the orange net one, works wonders. I clean all my buckets water drums etc with them. We get really bad limescale and green stuff in the drums in the fields, scrub then rinse clean.
