I do believe that duct, duck, elephant or gaffer tape whatever its called in your region is a horse persons essential.I was just marvelling at it today when covering up the vetrap hoof dressing on my boy's injured sole.

It is great for extra security on brushing boots etc out hunting - fave colour with our lot at the moment is silver and you can see it reflecting off all the hunter's legs in the sun!

ONce taped my daughters entire leg in black tape when zip broke on boot at a show it did the job.

If stuck onto the hoof where a shoe would sit, if a shoe has been lost, it saves the foot until a farrier can put it back on.

One stud uses duct tape around mares tails for covering

Repaired broken plastic mudguard on horse trailer with tape.

I love the stuff!!!!! Any other horsy uses anyone????????

Until I splashed out on a tax disc holder it used to hold my tax disk in place in my fourtrak.

I love the stuff, like you say holds parts of cars together like nothing else!

Would love to know what else everyone uses it for so i can pinch some ideas!

I used it to protect my old boys hoof after he lost a shoe & farrier couldnt get out for several days. Path up to field was quite stoney so put a good layer of cotton wool over sole the wrapped it all up in duck tape. Lasted the whole day out in the field & meant he didnt have to be stuck indoors.

Great stuff!! Was also used under the bonnet of my friends car to hold various bits together on way to garage (along with good ol' baling twine!)

Rolls of ducttape would occasionaly disappear from the lockers on our Army recovery vehicles. Turned out thatv one of the TA Girs used it for plucking (If that is the cerrect terminology) her legs.

I once used a couple of metres, folded back on itself, to replace a broken lead rope (attached it to the clip) when we were out hunting and couldn't travel the horse back untied. Worked a treat! Also use it to patch torn rugs until I can get them to the menders. Once had headlights on lorry stuck on full beam so taped up the lens covers to make a smaller slit so didn't blind oncoming traffic. Yes, useful stuff.

My old fiat panda had one central windscreen wiper. It was faulty and would fall off the windscreen in use. So my ex taped a block of wood to the bonnet at the top. Voila ! the wiper hit the wood and bounced back over. It even passed the MOT with that on.

Taping up a full tail into a hunting knot to keep it from mud. I'm sure there's a proper way to do it - but that works for me!

Not horsey - but I once knew someone who used it to shut his ex MIL up!

I'm sure most people will be horrified and a few will sympathise with him!

I had to do this just a couple of weeks ago at a show when the same thing happened to me. Was very glad it was black and not silver duck tape!

'tis great stuff.

I used it to stick a dressing onto my yearlings back after she had minor surgery - the wound was right in the middle of her back and cos she is so hairy nothing else would stick to her - worked a treat

Also use it to repair rugs, hosepipes, always have a roll in the lorry just in case!

Torn rugs, torn feed bags, landrover mending, and prime non-horsey use is on veruccahs! One year, my son had several of them, we covered them with duct tape and lo! and behold! they went. His nickname at school has been 'ducky' ever since!! Luckily he doesn't mind.

Never travel without the stuff in the car - I am renowned for it!
