I'm going out tomorrow on a hack with my new 17hh TB with 2 other horses. I've bought a martingale but never used one. I'm hoping it will help with the shape of the neck but more importantly, help with the control/safety. Will a martingale help with this?

If he throws his head up, then yes. If not then do not bother, if you are thinking of your own safety then a neck strap will be enough.

They they only work I'm controlling a horse if they carry there head too high :)

What type of Martingale is it? It may help you to control your horse if he has a high head carriage. You can also use it to regain ur balance should you need to.

The running martingale is to stop a loss of control if the horse throws his head up. If it fits right it shouldn't harm or distract him. Hope that helps! :D
