Using a running martingale as a standing martingale

Do you?
I am currently doing this with my mare as she has a habit of throwing her head up (all checks are done and fine) but she still seems to be able to get her head quite high. Would a proper standing martingale be shorter and there for be more effective?
Re schooling is all in progress this is just being used as a tempoary helping hand!

As long as you have it fitted correctly,it should work the same
