I got one for Christmas (do you think hubby is trying to tell me something? Only joking, I asked for one lol).

Anyhoo, as I'm pretty unfit due to my riding being a tad interrupted, though the walking up and down fields has to have done some good

, I'm wondering what peoples thoughts/experiences are with using the Wii Fit

.

I was thinking the same, turn telly of for half hour and do some yoga but not happened yet, maybe once kids are back at school and there is some routine to my life!!

Cant see it doing any harm, but may not be as good as going to gym

I don't have one but a couple of close gfs do. As far as I've seen there aren't any games that will use the inside of your legs the way riding does. So, if you're hoping not to ache after a while out of the saddle... :-(

Maybe just make sure you do a lot of stretches of those bits before and after?

What there are on the wii are things that may sharpen your reaction times, a few that require balance (more so if you have the little tea-tray-shaped thing to stand on) and might helpa smidg e with core strength. You'll also def burn a few calories too :-)

Enjoy!

We got one last year, but I REFUSE to use it as it is very rude, telling you how overweight you are, and that your fitness level is about 40 years older than you actually are!

However, my daughters say it is brilliant, and the yoga thingy is great for improving core stability which would be useful for riding - I think it could really help.

Well..the kids have wiis but I read a news report the other day about at least 10 people a week are being admitted to hospital with 'wii-related injuries' They say that "People are attempting snowboarding, aerobics, and full on sports from doing absolutely NOTHING for months.."

I'll try and have a look for the report.

Just be careful lol

I did the jogging part of Wii Fit for a while and did feel a bit fitter, but obviously you do need to disipline yourself because you soon learn you can simply sit on the couch and move the wii-mote up and down to get the same effect... lol.

I am perfectly well aware of how fat and unfit I am - I don't need a bloody machine telling me!!

HA HA, what a load of crap

I have been using the Wii Fit for over a year now and it helped tone me up and lose 3 stone
smile.gif

To start I was very disciplined and did 40mins every morning, not so dedicated now but still use it when I feel the need.
It helped me get backin the ring with my ponies last season

My Wii fit makes me laugh, one time I had put on weight it asked me why. Then when the OH got on, it asked him about me and whether I was slimmer, fatter os just the same! he said just the same and it told him off for not paying enough attention to me!

I am getting back on my in January - was doing it a few times a week in the begnning of october, and after a few weeks I actually wanted to go for a run, and managed to run 1.5miles which I haven't done for a long time.

Whilst I don't think that the Wii is the be all and end all of exercise, I do think it helps to get the basics esp when the weather is pants

I have to admit mine makes me laugh when it's rude to me. It had the cheek to ask why I had missed using it one day and then said I was 73! I love the hula hoops and tennis and admit that I did cheat horribly with the running.

I'm in my 50's and have started using my sons's Wii fit.Not having done a lot of riding for some time, my balance was really out.I've found the balance games followed by the muscle workouts have helped a lot. 30 mins is more than enough. If you want a laugh, tried the advenced steo game, I'm totally rubbish at it!!!!

What's a load of crap? The report or what I said? You can google the news items if you want.
