using eucalyptus oil for seedy toe?

When i bought my mare her old owner gave me some stuff which the vet gave him for her seedy toe but ive just run out and im not sure what it is. Im pretty sure its eucalyptus oil mixed with something but not sure what could it be purple spray? Once its settled its purple liquid at the bottom and clear on the top then once you shake it it all turns purple.
 
I get a mix from my vets of Eucalyptus and Iodoform for use on the hooves. cures fungal infections and hardens up the hoof. Purple spray really has nothing in it to help with seedy toe so I would not think it was that
 
I am using anti-bac on my boys seedy toe, recomended by my farrier and it's doing a good job.

I've used sheep foot rot spray for mine, having previously tried neat Tea Tree oil.

Soak either in cotton wool and stuff in the hole (if there is one)

It's taken nearly 18months for it to grow out. Nothing seemed to happen with the Tea Tree Oil, so I suspect is was the Foot Rot spray that did it

I was told to Hydrogene peroxide - but be careful you can stain your hands and clothes - it's the same stuff used to bleach hair!! It's easily obtainable from pharmacies in quite a low %

If Bosworth's vet supplies a mix of Eucalyptus and Iodoform - then I'm guessing that Iodoform is a combination of Iodine and Formalin/Formaldehyde - and it is the Iodine that is making the purple colour.

My vet gave me an Iodine/Formalin mixture years ago now to treat a foot abscess on a youngster living out 24/7.

So it would make sense.
 
My blacksmith told me to use a mix of eucalyptus oil and iodine for a split in Olivers frog. We've been trying to grow it out for absolutely ages but within a few weeks of using this spray once a day it's now completley grown out. We make it up ourselves with both items purchased from the chemist and decant it into a small spary bottle.

If it works for you don't knock it I always say!

Donkeys are very prone to seedy to - as I well kow! - the Donkey Sancrtaury are experts with this and recommend sugardine, a paste made from iodine and sugar. I have been using an iodine spray and it has been pretty good.
