Using human bath products on horses - yes or no?

I have also been told this.
My horse has pink, sensitive skin. I only use specific equine products on her skin otherwise I end up with an itchy, lumpy and grumpy horse.

I do however use human hair conditioner on her tail after washing it - the conditioner doesn’t touch her skin and I’ve never had any issues doing this.
 
I use human conditioner on tails and manes. Otherwise I use horse shampoo (eqyss microtek) because my pony has very sensitive skin and is often flaky or lumpy. This stuff is amazing and it’s a huge bottle so I only need to repurchase once in a blue moon. The best conditioner for white tails is touch of silver (human).
 
Don't have a horse anymore but used to buy proper horse stuff, then realised I could buy a bottle of Alberto Balsam or whatever it's called human shampoo for £1 when horse stuff was about £10, and probably human shampoo is more rigourously tested, so from then on it was human shampoo!
 
I always use head and shoulders on Sky he has an itchy skin and Hand S is a good antifungal .
I use baby shampoo on them and any thing that’s been lying around in the bathroom and making me cross .
I always use human conditioner on their tails and a silver type shampoo Skys his tail if he needs to look super smart .

Head and shoulders is really useful for horses and dogs .
 
I use both human & horse shampoos, but always use kids' detangler for mane & tail, horse ones are all silicone & I can't abide the feeling. So Dave has Johnsons.
 
I've previously used head & shoulders on a horse who had got all scurfy during a sweet itch flare up. It worked a treat and helped keep his itching under control - having all those flakes makes it so much worse.
 
yep - anti dandruff shampoo, purple shampoo on white bits, cheap washing up liquid too. My mum used to use glo-white on white ponies before showing - you couldn't leave it on to long or you would be showing a blue pony!

I use all sorts of none horse products as they work just as well for a fraction of the price.
 
Horse shampoo on coat. Human shampoo on mane and tail. Baby no tears shampoo for forelock in case gets in his eyes. Did find that the washing up liquid out of the lorry living was the only way to get a stable stain out of my grey at an overnight show 😀

my rescue pony has had rain scald and the vet recommended the baby shampoo no more tears... it's worked a treat and cleared it up. I also used it all weekend at riding camp on my 17.1 ID as it's mild and easy to rinse off. any equestrian related seems to be an extra £20!
 
I use fairy liquid and never had a problem. Did find that with a grey the platinum fairy was well worth the extra money.
