Using Sedalin for loading?

My horse isn't the best at loading but is fine while travelling. I need to get her to the vets this Wednesday for scans and the vet has given me sedalin.

Has anyone used this for travelling and is this safe?? if so will it work??
 
there was a post a couple of days regarding this. personally if you know your horse travels well why would you? could open a bigger can of worms. Meaning upset him for the bit he does well.
 
yea read that, am a transporter and flying groom by trade. try my hardest not to use it because of legal ramifications if it goes wrong, obviously dealing with other peoples horses.if horse is dificult to load only can make it go other way.
 
was only couple of days ago, someone had a horse with a fracture and was debating weather it would do more harm than good. I know as a transporter if we have doped a horse we have to keep a written record in case we are are involved in any sort of accident vets that attend have in writing what drugs and what quantities have been administered.
 
Has the vet told you how much to give ? only I find it tends to affect different horses differently, give on an empty stomach

I have to sedate my 33 year old if he's been in any length of time like the snow last year, gave him 2 clicks, not enough, gave him 4, just right, its just to stop him doing himself an injury as he thinks he's 3
 
I would suggest you ring your vet, they know her, her estimated weight etc, no point us lot guessing, I could say 4 but then my friend who has a particularly psycho horse was told to give the whole tube ! as you are travelling her I wouldn't want to give too much so she can keep her balance
 
Ask your vet for the correct dosage on an empty stomach and you need to give it in good time to make sure it's working when you come to load. Make sure your horse is nice and calm when you give it, if you give it to a horse that is stressed it will only make it more stressed.

I'm surprised your vet gave you sedalin without giving you instructions on administration.
