Using 'Succeed' gastric ulcers

I heard excellent reports of it when I was in the USA, and had a long and v helpful chat with their scientist in the UK - though in the end did not go down that route principally because my vet is hugely sceptical and you have to buy it through vets over here.

I was chatting to Daniel Sibley at Monmouth this year and he said it has transformed his 3* horse and he swears by it. It was next on my list of things to try, however it seems with a combination of treatment, preventative supplements and some herbs from silverliningherbs we seem to have got on top of it. (crosses fingers madly)

I fed it, on my vet's recommendation, for a couple of months alongside Equine America's U-Gard Plus. To be honest I didn't see any difference so I stopped using it. Maybe it was just doing the same job as the U-Gard, but I wasn't going to stop using that as I know it makes a big difference to him.

Yeah i found out about it recently through an independant nutritionist who said people had had good results using it. Is it prescription only then? Dont suppose you know how much it is?

It's not prescription only, they simply choose to only sell it through vets - it's a nutritional supplement so can't be prescription only!

No idea of the cost, sorry.

I am an avid supported of succeed!!! My horse has been on it for a while now and looks fabulous. if you have a look on their website, it explains exactly how it works and why - something I have found lacking in a lot of supplements! I know gastro guard is good at what it does but its switching off the gastric acid. I think a lot of people don't realise that the horse actually needs this acid to activate certain digestive enzymes. As a result you end up with feed being digested in the wrong place, which causes an imbalance. You can't alter one thing without it having an effect on something else.
Have a look on the website www.succeeddcp.com

My sister in the US uses it on her young dressage horse and she really rates it. It also seems to have improved his behaviour although he disgraced himself yesterday at a schooling show when he had bucking fit. I was thinking of trying my horse on it but discovered it was through vet only and therefore very expensive.

ive read the website word for word before i posted this question. Did your horse have ulcers? Do you know how much succeed is?

I already replied that I think it was about £60 for 30 days supply in the syringe form.

My horse did have ulcers, I tried Succeed after a course of GastroGuard & alongside U-Gard Plus (won't take him off this).
