Hi

My horse has just been treated for a squamous cell carcinoma on his eye.

As such, I now have to be even more careful and protect his eyes from UV radiation.

He has an equilibrium fly mask for the field, but I need something to ride him in too.

I can't find one anywhere online that is ok to ride in, but also protects from UV.

Does anyone ride in a regular fly mask? I emailed equilibrium and they said they don't recommend riding in a fly mask, and that their riding mask isn't UV protective.

Any ideas?

I seem to think there were some on e-bay. My horse has uveitus in one eye and I bought a Gee Tac UV fly mask from them last week. I am sure Gee Tac did a riding mask one too. Will look for you this evening and post if any luck

When the flies are really bad I quite often ride our pony out in a fly mask. I've never had any problems - other than the odd strange look from people and the lady who thought I'd blindfolded the pony lol. At a riding school I used to go to, one of the small ponies wore a fly mask for lessons as he had some problem with his eyes in bright sunlight. he used to jump and everything in it.
