My white nosed cob has developed a sore nose. I had started to put a bit of sun cream on and it was fine. Suddenly it has gone v v sore. It can't be burnt be is we haven't had much sun. Any ideas wot cud b making her so sore so quickly?? Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks
I've got photos, how do I post them??

Do you have buttercups on your land? They can cause nasty skin reactions.

^^^^^ this ^^^^^^

My old Cremello used to get a nasty reaction to buttercups also, his nose would blister and they would weep and go scabby, the first time it happened to him i thought it was sunburn, but soon realised that it was the buttercups.

I know of a horse who had something like this on his nose and he needed something from the Vets for it, I think it was Fuciderm gel. It cleared up pretty quickly after using it.

Um, yes OP, it actually COULD be "sunburn" because even though there may be little in the way of actual sun there will still be some UV exposure even if its cloudy, plus the wind will be drying as well which doesn't help.

I've got a white-nosed cob with pink skin, and he's very sore on his muzzle area plus this spring has had very dry and cracked lips which is a new thing for him! I've had to really keep a watch on him concerning it.

We don't have buttercups here (sheep graze the land - easy field maintenance! :) ) so it can't be that.

I just smear some Sudocrem on him; he's a good boy and lets me do it. This seems to do the trick.
