I was a complete doufuss and missed the booster date so needed to start my 2 geldings again.

1st visit 2 geldings flu and tents i think she said
2nd visit 1 gelding flu (as pony had gone on loan and has been done there)

I've just got the bill (s)

1st visit £162.45
2nd visit £55.03

To me that seems so high- does it seem correct to you or should I query?

They seem about right unfortunately

By the time you add on the call out, one jab and then the vat @ 20% that would easily be the second amount.

On the first bill you had one call out, 4 jabs and vat !

It is all sooo expensive I am sure my 2 for jabs (tetanus booster only) and call out was around the same (pro rata)

If you have a trailer you could box them up for jabs - although fuel may mean it comes out not much different !!

I've not got a problem paying I just wanted to check as they were so different.

1st just says goods and services
2nd has a break down
call out £20
vac £25.86
+vat

Thank you for your help- I love HHO !

It sounds wrong to me the first time is a visit and 2 jabs, not usually done as separate, flu/tet combined most likely, it should say on your passport, the second seems right and going on that it should be lower for the first. The vets should be sending you a correctly itemised bill, goods and services is not really good enough. The only other thing is that the vet may of done a health check at the first visit.

I am very cautious about the jabs, and use the visit for a check up on horse as well, this time she also did teeth [just to save me an extra £20 to get the job done properly by the EDT who was not communicating at the time].
I don't compete and am in a small yard, so extend my flu jab to manufactures specification, not VET/FEI, which is 15 months, and the tet is 2/3 years, so can be done on second flu jab,
I usually order my supplies from a vet and this is about twelve Danolin per annum, but they need to see him within six months to prescribe [vet rules OK].

Connie had her '3rd' vaccination after i started again (she had always been vaccinated since i had her, but when we looked into her vaccs it hadnt been done properly in the past - now she's retired i probably neednt have bothered - hayho)

So was call out and Flu - cost £47.23 (call out split 2 ways)

I paid £82 last week for flu and tet booster and teeth. My vet is incredibly cheap and brilliant, but what you paid seems about right from a practice. (My vet is freelance)

hi im having my colts vaccintations done first time for him i pay 35.00 each for mine. i dont get charged call out as i have him done on friday which is free visit day for my post code he has just had second jab. 3rd in 5months each time i pay 35.00

I have a bill for £32.41 for annual flu/tet booster. I hacked to the vet 1 mile down the road so don't have a to pay a call out fee.

I used to take our pony in the trailer to the vets surgery for his jabs; the vet would do him without even unloading.
Now we have a free visit day so he comes to us, we book by 4.00 the previous day and then they call to tell you the approx time of visit.
This time they just had the flu jab, the tet only has to be given every other year.

Oh that's bloody annoying! Wish I had known that when I got Mill as her jabs were overdue 12 days before I bought her last year!
