I just got my new horses's passport yesterday and he was vaccinated on 9th July with equilis prequenza te and before that hadn't been vaccinated since 18/1/2010. Does he need a booster soon? And if so what does he need? Also is equilis prequenza a flu and tenanus or just flu?!
Thanks guys ;)

If you want to keep him covered for flu the course will need to be started from scratch, you will have to have 2 vaccines given for initial cover, these need to be between 21 days and about 2 months apart, you are just out for the most recent one to count. Then another at 5- 7 months, approx, then they are given annually.

He has had a combined vaccine so should be fine for tetanus cover. Tetanus only can be given every other year.

2nd Jab should be between 21 and 90 days from the first; then 3rd jab should be between 150 and 210 days from the second jab.
July 9th is day 191 + 21 = 212 (30th July) so 90 days from 1st jab = day 280 which is 6th October. So if that first jab on 9/7 was start of the course you still have time to get 2nd jab done in time. 3rd jab should be between 150 and 214 days from the second jab.
Hope that makes sense.

nearly.

the correct intervals are 21-92 days and 150-215 days.

but yes, if you act quickly you have time to get another flu jab done in the next week or so and have it count as the 2nd jab then only need the 3rd and you'll be up to date again.

Don't worry too much about what he needs. Phone your vet and say he's due his 2nd vacc by 6th October and show them the passport before vaccinating. It's difficult to say what he needs for definite without knowing what he's had over the years previously. Most likely gel need a second flu and tet and then a flu in 6 months.
