Vaccination Question

I'm feeling a bit blonde today and the more I think about 'flu vaccination dates the more confused I get!!

Its a really silly question but if my horse is due on 15th January can he be done on the 15th Jan or does he need it done before? The vets have confused me by sending a reminder card saying that he can be done anytime before 15th Jan and I thought he could be done on the same date?!!
Prob just answered my own question!!!

Aaaaaarrgh...going to have to have another cup of tea I think!!

If it's a day late you need to start the whole vaccination programme again

My vet told me it isn't advisable to have it done on the same day each year - best to have it done at the latest, the day before it's due. Then there's no issue as to whether it was "on time" or not (for competing).

It needs to be done at least the day BEFORE the year is up from the last one just in case you get an overzealous official telling you it's out of date, which can and has happened in which case you wouldn't be able to compete until horse had had the first two jabs of a new course which equals more expense! You can have jabs done well before they're due if it would tie in with something else so you could pay for a shared visit if that helps.

Because sooner or later, that day will be a Sunday and you'll have an out of hours call-out charge! Or you'll just miss it for some other reason, and have to start again.
