My horse was vaccinated against protec flue and tetanus last Thursday. He came into the yard a bit disorientated Friday morning. Ever since then he has got progressively worse. He has no feeling down one side of his face. His eye doesn’t react neither does his ear (this is on the side he had the injection). He can’t coordinate himself through gates and keeps bumping into things. Vets have been down to treat him but they have no idea what it is. I’m wondering if anyone else horse has had a reaction like this from a vaccination? It’s almost as if he has had a stroke. Please help!! We are very worried.

Horses often get stiff after the injection or have swelling at the site but I never heard of this reaction. You could always contact the company that makes the vaccine and ask if this is a reported reaction before.

Vets have contacted the vaccination company. They say they have never ever had this reported.
