Just wondering when people are advised to vaccinate?? I had my Springer first done at 8 weeks, which the vet said was ideal. But, now timings seem to vary between breed and vet - having looked it up online, it says anywhere from 9 to 12 weeks, but no earlier. Others say from 6 weeks is ideal. Some websites say that vaccinations before 12 weeks interferes with the maternal antibodies.

My predicament is this - I have a JRT puppy that had to be weaned at four and a half weeks as her mother was killed in a car accident. For the first week of their lives they were bottle reared anyway, as mother was quite sick after giving birth. She is now 6 weeks, and I was wondering whether to ask my vet about giving her a vaccination early, as she wont have had as many antibodies from mother, having been bottle reared for the first part of her life. My vet is coming out this afternoon to vaccinate one of my mares, so I will ask him what he thinks anyway, but just wondered what you guys would do?

Mine are done at 12 or 14 and then 15 or 17 weeks.

I'm assuming the pup had a good lot of colostrum from the bitch? Was the bitch vaccinated? If so was it a while ago or did she have a booster a couple of months before giving birth?

Some vets are now reccommending 6 weeks then every two weeks until they're 16 weeks - expensive huh
