Hi All.
Would appreciate some assistance as I am very confused.....
When I had new horse vetted the vet picked up that he thought that the initial course of jobs had not been done correctly yet the vet who carries out the annual boosters has jabbed the horse a year later happy that they were.
I have tried to find out on BS website and BE/BD for clarity and even been on RVC website and there seems to be a few different rules depending on whether FEI Rules or Jockey club rules are applied.
According to RVC The Jockey Club vaccination schedule is:
a. Primary course: 2 injections, 21-92 days apart.
b. First booster: Within 150-215 days of 2nd primary injection.
c. Following boosters: Annually (within 365 days of preceding booster).
and
The FEI vaccination schedule is:
a. Primary course: 2 injections, 21-92 days apart.
b. Boosters: Annually (within 365 days of 2nd primary injection).
although if you go on the FEI website is says 6 monthly boosters to compete??? (I assume at FEI events so won't be necessary for me!)
I am looking to do all 3 disciplines at the lower levels but do plan to affilliate so don't want to arrive at an event and be sent home for incorrect jabs!
So from the record horse had Equilis Prequenza TE 21.8.09, Equilis Prequenza TE 1.10.09 then Equilis Prequenza (no TE?) on 20.9.10.
My understanding was always 2 jabs a month apart, 1 at 6 months then annual boosters but don't want to pay for a whole new course if not 100% necessary (vetting vet has said happy horse is covered against flu tet based on what had so horse not at risk otherwise would of had done on day 1).
Thank you in advance for any advice
