Other thread has just made me think... If the vet says my boy's tet vac is to be on the 8th, will doing it on the 9th mean I have to start again?

yes sadly. i always try to do mine the day before they are due as i once had a vet that told me i had to restart if i did it exactly a year to the day of the previous one. I now dont take the risk!

Yeah you used to have a week gap but they staopped that, now they have to be done beofre or on the date due.

Why is beyond me I mean the vaccine doesn't know its been exactly a year and suddenly stop working. lol

I think the tet vac isn't as strictly adhered to as the Flu vac. The flu vac is definitely to the day and no later.

Presumably that's for competitions etc. Can it be done over a year for a pet pony? If so how much later? (Guess who hasn't got around to it

Tetanus is not subject to the same stringent rules as 'flu. Your horse will be fine to have the tet booster a week or 2 after the dates.

'Flu however is a different story if you plan to do any competing of any kind - in that case you must adhere to jockey club or FEI rules and for them the dates are vitally important - the anniversary is acceptable but not a day later.
