Well thats where we today for our combined members race.
Horse was firing on all (too many) cylinders, frogmarched my poor mother round the parade ring, reared while being mounted, ran off twice on the way to the start, then napped for ages before being led in by the hunters.
We set off jumped the first two and took the lead, when I was concentrating on stopping him napping right, I missed a marker, by the time I realised we were nearly at the next fence, but I pulled him round, went back and went past the marker, and carried on about 1/2 mile behind Harry Challinor who was the only other in the race, my horse jumped superbly and we finished (albeit with a detour).
So my face looks like this

We also won the best turned out.
Note to eventers we also come home £105 richer

It is much more exciting than xc, but I am lucky that my horse is a jumping machine. I think if we hadn't diverted we would have been in with a shout, the other horse made a big mistake at the first and fired the jockey airborne, he was lucky to stay on board!

How exciting, and the prize money sounds good as well

Have you any pics, or was your mother hiding behind the lorry???

Major well done

Fab, well done I'm very jealous! Having been to school a couple (or rather sit on them while they jumped...

) I can say that it may well be more fun than eventing

(but only if you're sat on a good jumper

). 2 in the race sounds like my sort of race!

Did you catch who won the men's open? We had a runner in it but I went to the Bedale to watch our other runners as it's much closer.

Any more in the pipeline?

The entry fee is £20, and you got that back for declaring!
We will be back out in a fortnight at Whittington again, and then hopefully at Skipton for Pendle Forest.
No idea who won what apart from the first race which was confined, but it would be either Harry Challinor or Toby Greenall

is my guess!
Still so excited, and the big lad had eaten up and is out in the paddock giving the 2 layabouts his re-enactment!

Yes I saw Richard Smith sit out the most amazing bronco act on the way to the start at the Bedale - truly deserved a medal! Wasted effort unfortunately as he fell half way through the race....

Ours was 2nd in the Mens Open and the winner was a much higher rated horse apparently so everyone's happy

I think Tom Greenall had his 2nd treble in 6 days
