At last, a report to post because OH was away with "the boys" skiing so I was off Hunting Duty.

I took Lucca (OH's hunter) to do PN111 and 1m SJ, and HumungaHorse to do N120 and 1.10m SJ, our first outing this season. Lucca was Mr Laidback, he moves really well and just curls up a bit when he's tense, so I was chuffed to get sevens pretty much the whole way through his test to get a 30. Pity he spoilt it by having two down sj but good on him for being very straightforward and un-spooky, but my steering was sh**te and our canter felt a bit flat. All in all it was a good fact-finding exercise as he'll be doing PN at Oasby in - gulp - 8 weeks.

On to HumungaHorse who, in his normal style, was massively over-excited about going to a party. We bounced round the warm-up, squeaking and squealing. In the test when we came across the diagonal to do a simple change through trot he said"I know I know, we're doing flying changes!", did one, was grumpy when I corrected him, then in the final halt - and this is my fault for having taught him another trick (albeit to counteract his desire to p*** off after a fence) - he did a rein back. That was SO not what the judge wanted so quite rightly I got a 4, and I completely agreed with her 5 for submission. He got 40.5 btw

We went in to jump and whilst he jumped clear, there were a few too many "yee-ha" moments for my liking. However, last year he would have yee-ha'd and had 3 down, so it's an improvement but still not quite as I'd like it. Oh well, 8 weeks to sort him out too.

Bizarrely HumungaHorse was 2nd and won me a fiver and LaidbackLucca was 5th.

Nice to read one of your reports.
Sounds like fun, and two completely different neds lol
Cant wait to hear all of your exploits this year hon

well done.

Cheers honey, I didn't think I was quite back into it enough but I had such fun yesterday, and HH is so entertaining, a bit like a bigger less-disciplined version of Snoops.

Sounds like a good day out - amazing how quickly the eventing season is coming around! Makes the winter seem slightly more bearable...although aghhhhhhhh only 6 weeks to fix my SJ!!!!!

Well done hun.

Sounds like an entertaining day for the lads!! HH just showing you how pleased he is, to be out again!!
Does he still have his helicopter tail!!?

I'm sure he will collect himself together for next time! (Fingers crossed for you!)

Good to hear the boys are well. Has HH stopped growing yet? or can't you reach the wither to measure.

See you at Oasby then.

I hope he's stopped growing or he'll be going to Nigel Taylor or William F-P! I can reach if I stand on a stool, but our measuring stick stops at 17.2!

Perfect! Can you imagine how much that is going to cost me for HumungaHorse though?

Joking apart, you should bring the little tinker to the Yogi clinic at Nigel's on 24th, then he and HH can swap notes.

I thought you'd been jumping at Nigel's recently?
