Has anyone got their four legged friend on this?

I know it's banned by the Jockey Club under FEI ruling, so that must mean it's pretty good, right?

I need something to help my horse relax and not be so uptight. He's not naughty and he's not 'high-spirited' he's a very nervous and stressed.

I have just started walking him out in hand after nearly 12 weeks of box rest and it seems that out of the safety of his stable and barn he's petrified. He has always been nervous hacking out alone anyway, that's just him. I am looking into valerian for him to be on to help and keep him on it even when he's turned out and riding again as no other calmer seems to work. I have spoken to my vet and have some sedaline now to help for the frist couple of weeks.

So any thoughts? Any experiences? I was particularly looking at the Linchon Valerian Cordial available at most tack shops, as it seems well priced. Any other valerian based products?

One of the girls on our yard used Valerian to help her horse deal with box rest. The valerian does smell very strongly, but she made it into a "tea" and then mixed his feeds with it. I assume that she did see the benefit, as she certainly kept using it (we knew by the smell). Her horse did seem much more chilled out.

Link above is to a website that sells it. They're very good - I get my supplements from them.

Ive tried it as it was reccomended by a friend whos TB was transformed by it. I think it worked a bit, nothing amazing but then Id say it was better than a lot of much more expensive calmers out there. I used the cordial not the powder supplement as its supposed to work quicker. It does smell wicked but my fussy horse ate every bit which supprised me as he wont touch antiiotics or Daniloon in his tea. The only people who complained where the other people on the yard who couldnt stand the smell when I was making his feeds :D
For what it costs, its worth a go.
