Valerian - everyday or 'one off'??

Have ordered some Valerian Cordial - i just wondered if it was better to feed everyday or just the one offs (when i know he will be stressy)?
does anyone have any experience please? is it one of thoses calmers that need to buid up in the system?

As with most, like you say, it needs to be fed every day to have a chance to build up. Remember it is not allowed for competition

depends why you are using it?
It can be fed as a one off as and when needed.

I feed it as a one off before comps the night before and on the morning.

It is now FEI legal btw.

I have to feed my mare valerian root from midwinter to late spring to be able to ride her, because she acts like is fed up to the eyeballs and kept stabled when she is in fact out all day & on just hay and chaff/carrots!!! Have no idea what causes this behaviour but we've had it a few years running now so i just prepare for it then can't wait till its past & my 'normal behaved' mare returns lol. (I buy off ebay, its cheaper & lasts ages compared to liquid form that costs a fortune & doesn't last long!!)
