Hey all....

So I need a bit of help. I am thinking of selling my pony....I got her when I was 16, and then parents moved to the States, and now at the age of 21, I have looked into shipping her there, as I am planning on going, but it really is silly expensive...I would need the money from selling her to ship her!
So, I have never sold a horse before, and need some help. From various websites, including Horse and Hound and Coloured Contacts, I value her at around 4250 including a full wardrobe, 2 saddles etc.

Anyway, she is a 9 year old 14.2hh Tovero CHAPS registered Irish Sports Pony. I bought her as a 3 year old, and have done most things with her. She has done PC/RC, unaff jumping up to 3'3, normally placing consistently. Good to do all with (shoe clip travel). Erm, she is now on loan to a 13 year old girl who has been doing unaff 2'9 courses very well. The girl is quite novice, and pony been totally bombproof. Good in all traffic (used to live on main road), done drag hunting. Got scope to affiliate, can jump up to 1.20 (not with me, lost my nerve ....guess just got old).

She is also so clever....such a cool girl. Really has a great facial expression - if you do something dumb will give you a great stare!! Also likes to turn around and look at you when riding especially if you are being bad!

ANyway, here are some photos..sorry not very good, but they have all disappeared from boyfriends computer and now there are just cars and boats!!!

There you go. Last one was height of summer as a 5 year old looking a little bit tubby! Most schooling ones are in the past year.

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Anyone interested!?!?!

The only photo of her jumping that is with the loaner - am working on that but some technical problems....I don't quite understand the 'only thing is I would want her competing at 1m'....do you mean you personally, or people? Its late and tired so braindead!

Have read your previous postings - is this the pony that had the hock surgery? If so, I would agree with the previous respondent that £2000 would be a more realistic valuation.

Yes, she has had hock arthrodesis. I have spoken to the surgeon, who has said, now that she is 100% sound, that she is at her full level again. She is not going to have any problems in those joints as the mobile joint has been fused together totally.

This is fully documented in her passport, so I am not trying to hide it. I also have a signed letter from the surgeon repeating this sentiment. Having trawled the internet, I have found many cases of horses having had this surgery (especially competition horses) and the price has not been touched, due to the long term prognosis.

The condition in her case was not genetic - it was just bad luck.

Thanks for your feedback though - this is why I wanted to post in various areas!

:-)

she is lovely BUT I would also say she is worth less with past hock problems, if i was looking at to identical horses then but one had had past hock problems and one hadnt, i would go for the one that hadn't. but if it was refected in her price and she was better than others in that price range, than i may consider taking the risk. vet letter or not.

also her hocks would be exclued in any insurance claims in the future that could be costly it probles returned sepically in a jumping home that would put lot more presure on her hocks anyway. i guess you are amining her to a sj home.

I would say shes probably worth more like £3000-3500 bearing in mind that shes never affiliated and has only competed up to 3'3. However you might get 4k with the tack etc included, if she's a brilliant pc allrounder.

Thanks for feedback. I figure, if she does not pass a 5 stage vetting then I will stick her on loan - I don't want her to be the horse that some one chooses because its good but cheaper than the others!

I would say probably more a PC/RC , maybe bit of affiliated.

Anyway...the girl that she is on loan too...I emailed her parents and they are interested in buying her. My vet is going to come out again and talk to them, seeing if its worth doing a vetting (if prognosis from him changes and says no good, then no point!). If no vetting, loan....

Oh....must I sell her!?! I really want to ship her to the States, but its silly money...I would have to sell my soul.

However, I did find that I can ship the rat girls! Yay!
