Can someone value my horse please?

14.3hh, 12 year old weight carrying Welsh Cob type gelding.

Good conformation & stunning looking (buckskin with white blaze and four white legs).

Very friendly, likes children, happy to go out on the lead rein or with OH on the bike or with the dog.

100% catch shoe, clip and load.

Good with other animals and in heavy traffic.

Has typical Welsh character and can be bolshy without consistent handling so suitable for confident rider only.

Novice/beginner hack in company.
Will happily hack alone with competant novice upwards.

Jumps logs and ditches out hacking, has done well in the show ring locally or would do a lovely dressage test with an experienced rider.

Broken to harness by previous owner.

Has been known to have the odd spook, nap or tiny buck but really isn't scary (I'm a very nervous rider and he doesn't scare me).

Cookies if you get this far

I would have a look around see what else is for sale similar and the price they are up for. Seeing as you are in herts i would say poss £3k when the market picks up a bit (so feb/march time normally). Just a total guess though i dont know much about welsh types!

As a horse shopaholic I would agree with £2500 and think you'll have no trouble getting that for him if you advertise in the right places. Shame I don't have room/money/time for another one as he sounds lovely. Good luck

Well done for such an honest advert - if only everyone was the same! As he is 12, and doesn't have an extensive competition record i would say around the £2000 mark.
Good luck and hope you find a good home for him!

Yes, it is he's had two minor unrelated lamenesses this year and I would be looking at possibly selling him in the spring when he's back in full work although I'm sure I'll change my mind, I'm just sick of winter and box rest.

The first was a hind suspensory strain, he was back in hard work for 6 weeks before laming himself in the field, this time after, nerve blocks, x-rays and scans the vet diagnosed a sprain (it's not the same leg).

There's no reason at all that he wont stand up to hard work as neither injury has or will have any impact on this (or his market value).

He is my dream horse in nearly every respect, however I find other peoples horses easier to get a tune out of when schooling so am starting to think that there are more suitable horses out there.

I'm just fed up with life in general atm.

It's nice to know what I thought he was worth is about right though and this means I wont be selling him as I would need double what he's worth to replace him with similar in the current market.

Not at all, I'd be wary of buying anything with a history of lameness or any illnesses.

But I'm happy (as is my vet) that they were minor injuries.

I would obviously disclose a full medical history to any potential purchaser as I would only want the very best of homes for him if I was to chose to sell in the future.

Today he's back to his usual well behaved self and I'm feeling much more positive about life in general and feel bad for being such a drama queen over the past couple of days
