Hi all.
Yard owner is having a clear out of all her older tack, including saddles. Everything has been stored nicely for a few years. I offered to help her sell some things.
There's a 16 inch leather saddle made by Heritage in Walsall and with MM on the little buttons at the front. I as wondering if there's a market for an older saddle like this in really good condition; looks to be a medium fit or thereabouts and we used on a Fjord pony up till about 4 years ago.

There's also an extra full heritage padded crank bridle with a comfort headpiece, any idea how much to ask for this on EBay? There seems to be two Heritage saddlers around
Thanks all :)

Most heritage tack will have the aroma of curry about it. Pretty much worthless second hand.

Most Heritage tack these days is made for a guy called Matt Marlow. (MM) in Stockport out of very high quality English leather, in Walsall.

A company based in Snow Hill in Birmingham used to use the same name for imported bridles but they never, afaik, sold saddles. I have not seen any for a few years now.

The bridle is possibly Asian, and they were dreadful quality. and worth nothing second hand. The saddle is a good one but I have no idea what it's worth, sorry.

I did see your posts, but the other 2 posts were more applicable

How are the other two posts ('curry') more applicable to a saddle clearly marked MM, coming from a quality English manufacturer, when the seller of rubbish Asian tack never sold saddles?

Or are you suggesting that Matt Marlow makes rubbish saddles, because that's not his reputation at all (though his after sales service can fall a bit short as I know myself). His girths are fantastic, I have several.

Oh dear, I've accidentally opened a can of worms.
The saddle says Walsall on it, the bridle doesn't but it's obviously a lot newer than the saddle and feels very nice quality, certainly not Indian

There should be a badge on the bridle, I think if its black then its the cheap import. If you search on here theres a few posts and MM posts saying which badge is his, seem to think from memory his is red and says Marlow?

This one is red and says marlow, but is stamped heritage on the headpiece

Second hand heritage saddles are worth very little regardless of apparent origin.

And you only need to do a search on HHO to see what sort of after sales you might be likely to get. (It's all been deleted by HHO under threat of being sued, a company that desperate to hide their bad publicity, is not one I would be buying from!).
