Van horseboxes

I have a Renault Master van conversion, it has never ever not started or broken down if that is what you mean by reliability?

The fact that is is not coach built means I have a bit more payload to play with than most (1250kg), but I still only carry my 15.2 middleweight and something smaller then her - anyone who tries to sell you a 3.5t to carry 2 x 17.2s is misleading you on the weight you can carry.

I bought mine with 122k on the clock, which for a Diesel engine is barely run in, try not to compare it with what you would consider high on a car, most of the vans have been used as company vans before being converted, so while they are higher mileage they will have been regularly serviced etc.

I have no idea on the commercial builders I'm afraid as mine was converted by a guy who keeps his horse at my yard.

Good luck finding a box, I love mine.

I bought a Renault Master conversion this year, its a 54 plate with 130000m on the clock but was newly converted by a specialist company. As Misog says, the payload is better but you still need to be careful. You need to take into account fuel, people, stuff and horses. I travel my Highland and small pony together but wouldnt travel 2 larger horses together, I had a problem just after I bought it as it kept cutting out but my superstar mechanic found it had a broken fuel switch, I love it though, easy to drive and manouvre on my own, small enough to keep at home and the ponies travel well in it

I have got a Vauxhall Movano on a 56 plate, it was a hire vehicle in its previous life.
It has got 82K on the clock, it is more fuel efficient than my car and cheaper to tax and insure.
I went away last week and 2 of us stayed in it for 3 nights!
As someone else said, because they aren't coach built there is a better payload, mine is 1250kg. I only travel my mare in it without the partition (she has had an accident and prefers the space to stand how she feels comfortable) she was a nervous traveller but you wouldn't know it now, it gives a very smooth ride in the back and feels very stable to drive.
I love mine, its just so easy to park, manouvre etc and cheap to run.
