So folks it is now 2 weeks since his lordship cast himself and I am delighted to say that he is over the tying up! He even cantered in the paddock yesterday (to many shouts of stop it and calm down you big poof!)

Skin is still coming off alarmingly! but what is underneath is clean and pink and in a way it is very theraputic pulling off the loose bits (yes I know Yuck!)

We have invested in an all singing and all dancing bug rug with UV filter to protect the new skin from the sun (should we ever get any again!)

Vet is coming over on Wednesday so we can ascess any muscle damage and give him some accupuncture to ease him up some more.

Best thing is he has got his personality back and has stopped looking sad and in pain.....I got mugged for a banana yesterday so we are nearly back to normal.

Plan is to keep him in the small paddock for the next couple of weeks then in August he can be turned out 24/7 in the big paddock with his love interest for month's rest.

He looks sooooo much better - you must be so relieved!! His skin looks good as does his poor face - fingers crossed the vet gives him the all clear when he visits so he can continue his recovery with his girlie!! At least you can sleep again!!

Glad he's making good progress.

the rug is a very good idea, because UV light penetrates cloud and seeing as how his skin in somewhat delicate at the moment..... I think you are very wise.

It was more to save my long suffering (and quite wonderful!) trainer and her staff having to slather him in Factor 50 6 times a day!.....Easier to just wrap him up and let him go....not sure he is too happy about it though! and as for the poor horse in the paddock next door it is terrified. I wanted to get him one of those fly masks with eyes painted on it....but thought it may be considered a little OTT

My mare sports a 'Guardian MAsk' because she's had cancer problems with her left eye - and so looks like she's doing a 'Fly' impression......

She was wearing this, and her lilac LW turnout when we turned a 10month Shire filly out with her, to be nannied........the filly took one look at the 'Monster' and barged straight out of the field. Poor Star - her feelings were very hurt....

Incidentally, Lilly the filly came back into the field under her own steam when she was convinced that Star wouldn't eat her........ Kids!
