Well fingers crossed we appear to have got away with it!

Vardi has now been back in work for a week now and everything crossed all appears to be going well.

Started off with 5 mins long reining in the large school (no round pen work at the moment) and have now worked up to 20 minutes - straight lines with a 20 metre cricle in each corner.

Planning to start alernating one day in in the school with one day going for a 20 minute walk outside and work him up to a constant hours walk.....at that point when he is fitter and there is no sign of lameness we will introduce trotting.....it will be a long process but hey he is ok and that is all that matters, however I think his International Showjumping career may be a non starter now

Anyhow the only injury site now is his hip;

And his foot which has healed but we just need to wait for the scab to drop off and for him to regain the hair;

Following his workout we put him back in the paddock just as Astrid was starting a training session with a tutor Group......Vardi decided this was all far too exciting and set off galloping and bucking.......I think he is feeling better

His lordship managed to cast himself and get his near hind caught through the stable divider he was down for we think 5 hours plus.....effectively he got the equivalent of pressure sores and lost most of the skin on his off side. He also had a hole below his fetlock that was 6 cm long and 4 cm deep. He was on heavy duty pain meds for a month and at one point we thought he had lost the will to live.

Thanks to my wonderful trainer and her amazing team who were at one point treating his wounds 6 times a day he has come through and is now back in work.....bless him he is only 4!

Foot injury 5 weeks ago this has now healed awaiting scab to fall off and the hair to start to grow.

We are so lucky he has no scarring so far and no proud flesh.....I am an evangelist over green clay which he was covered in for 2 months.

In a nutshell that is the story, I am just grateful he is still with us and is such a calm little guy that he lay still and waited to be rescued if he had panicked he would have broken his leg as it was it took six of us dismantling the stable around him to get him out.

So happy to see these - been dying for an update! Vardi is definitely my favourite HHO horse, can't believe he's coped with all that and he's only 4! He could be the poster boy for green clay...bet he'd be a fab model!
