No need to answer all ?

1- If you had a very girthy horse would you scope for sure, no other issues but my arse is lucky to be in one piece ?‍♀️
I have got some Ron Fields ulcer stuff to see if it makes any difference, so far not.

2- My legs are super feeble. I’ve not ridden *properly in ages and I need proper leg power now, it’s just not there. I also have a hip problem which doesn’t help. Any exercise or other recommendations please?

3- lunge aids. Never used them, I’ve always lunged a quick shoo round. Bridle and one line or if I’m actually trying to work them double lines and tack.
Is there a simple, not got much time today item that will really help with getting a horse working over his back (to counteract above crap stiff rider) once a week or so? Or is old fashioned 2 lines still best?

4- see q2 ortho consultant thinks issues stem from totally immobile lower back so any suggestions there would be amazing!
Awaiting mri to confirm

Thank you! ?

Number 1 I would probably check saddle fit, teeth checked and have physio look before scoping. If those were ok then yes I would scope. My friend has an ulcer prone horse and she uses protexin acid ease with success

Number 2 physio for you. Pilates is also good to get suppleness. Maybe a couple of sessions on a mechanical horse so you can concentrate on you

Number 3 I use a harbridge sometimes which helps my youngster to work properly. You could try side reins or a Pessoa, all of which could be used with 1 or 2 reins. If I’m doing it with 2 reins I mix it up with long reining sometimes with poles

Question 4 as 2 physio, they’ll be able to give you targeted exercises and stretches

1. - As I understand it a course of ulcer treatment is about the same as a scope - I would try the treatment first - if nothing changes you have your answer.

2 and 4 - Pilates - amazing and you can do online in the dark horrible weather - I think it was one of the older NZ eventers that did 2 hours Pilates a day to keep mobile !

3- I just use headcollar and use change in pace to get them to work properly and stretch - lots of transitions rather than a race around - IMHO better way of working than gadgets.

Q3. Chambon is the only lunging gadget I would use. And a separate tail bandage round the arse.

Q2 and 4. Physio for you

Q1. I don't know. Maybe.

My friend had great success with the run fields stuff she did supplement for a good few months though, I would check saddle teeth back before getting a vet, even may be a girth change you never know, I don't know how you girth up but I find some people can be rushed with it and it does upset some horses if you tighten it quickly, apologies if you don't just a suggestion!

I use a bungee over the head through the bit then between the legs attached to the surcingle not really tight, but I have Arabs so I like to encourage long and low when lunging just because they are quite upright, but you can use the bungee as side reins as they are very stretchy.

Yoga might help or I found resistance bands good when I broke my ankle to build the strength back up, there are loads of exercises on you tube you can use with them to suit your needs, they are very gentle as well so less likely to strain something.
